📢 ATO Penalty Update – Effective 7 November 2024

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has announced an increase to the penalty unit amount for late lodgement of tax returns.

New penalty unit (from 7 November 2024): $330

Previous penalty unit: $313

This change means that penalties for late lodgement will be higher going forward, impacting both individuals and businesses who fail to meet their obligations on time.

Is bank statement enough for your record keeping? Read useful information below by ato.

The answer is... false 🙅‍♀️

In most cases, a bank or credit card statement alone isn’t enough to support a work-related expense claim. You’ll need receipts that show the:

✅ date of purchase
✅ cost of the item or service
✅ name of the store or supplier
✅ description of goods/services
✅ date the receipt was issued.

Don’t forget to hold onto your receipts for at least 5 years! 📝
