Quarterly BAS Q1 FY27 is due 28 October 7 weeks away.
But here’s what a lot of Australian small businesses don’t know: that deadline only applies if you’re lodging yourself.
Engage a licensed tax or BAS agent to lodge on your behalf, and the ATO automatically extends the due date to 25 November 2026 — a full 4 weeks later. No paperwork. No requesting an extension. It applies automatically under the ATO’s registered agent lodgement program.
- Quick checklist to get BAS-ready this week:
- Bank feeds reconciled to end of September
- All supplier invoices coded correctly with GST
- All sales properly reconciled (especially ecommerce payouts)
- Cash set aside for the payment — 25-30% of net GST-liable turnover is a common ratio
- Any GST Errors from last Quarter Corrected on this BAS
Whether you lodge yourself by 28 October or engage a BAS agent to push the deadline out to 25 November, September is when the prep needs to happen.
If you’d like to lodge through a registered BAS agent and unlock the automatic extension,
our team handles this for Sydney and Australian businesses every quarter.
