Thank you for having me, π« What a night! Last night in Sydney I got to hear Trinny Woodall, founder of , speak. Before she even took the stage, her energy was infectious, and she spent so much time chatting with everyone in the room.
Here's my key takeaways from her chat π
1οΈβ£ Don't extend an employee's probation. If you're thinking about extending it, you already know it's the wrong fit.
2οΈβ£ Your team is everything. You spend so much time together, solving problems, laughing (and even crying) together. Building the right team is some of the most important work you'll do.
3οΈβ£ Back women. Only around 2% of venture funding goes to female founders. Women are capable of amazing things, so support them however you can. Share their page, like their posts, spread the word!
4οΈβ£ Take all the feedback, then get critical with it. Is it a me thing or a them thing? Did they not get the vision, or did I not explain it well enough?
5οΈβ£ Research your investors. Pitch a beauty brand to a tech VC and they may not understand your niche. Don't waste your energy, or take the rejection to heart, on the wrong ones.
6οΈβ£ Persistence wins. Trinny made 261 pitches, got 10 meetings and 1 yes. Everyone doubted her, but no one more than herself. She stuck to her vision and kept going. Look at Trinny London now.
7οΈβ£ Go all in. You need to be a little delusional. Trinny sold her dream house because she believed in herself that much.
8οΈβ£ Bootstrap at the start. It teaches you the true value of every dollar, so you only spend on what you really need.
Thank you, , for your honesty and your time β¨
