In a widely anticipated move, the Reserve Bank of Australia has unanimously decided to lower the Cash Rate to 3.6%. The rate drop marks the third cut in the current easing cycle (which began in February of this year) and the lowest the cash rate has been since May 2023.

Hi Everyone,

The Reserve Bank of Australia has today cut interest rates by 25 basis points (the first cut in four years), taking the Cash Rate to 4.1%.

It comes after the RBA kept interest rates on hold at 4.35% since November 2023 — the highest level in 13 years.

While some were hoping for an end of year present, the RBA’s decision to leave the Cash Rate on hold at 4.35% does not come as a surprise.

Although inflation is easing, the central bank remains cautious about acting prematurely. The RBA continue to pay close attention to developments in the global economy and financial markets, trends in domestic demand, and the outlook for inflation and the labour market and will do what is necessary to return inflation to target.

At its November meeting, The Reserve Bank of Australia left the Cash Rate on hold at 4.35% as widely predicted by the market and economists.

Despite improving inflation trends, the RBA has decided it’s still too early to reduce the official Cash Rate. This reinforces the need to remain vigilant to upside risks to inflation and the Board is not ruling anything in or out. Policy will need to be sufficiently restrictive until the Board is confident that inflation is moving sustainably towards the target range.

We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our team. This role involves a wide array of tasks including:
• Completing Tax Returns & Financial Statements with a variety of entities including SMEs, companies, trusts, and partnerships
• Working directly with the Firm's Principal
• Extensive direct contact with clients
• Working with clients to better improve their tax strategies
• Exposure to a variety of tax matters including GST, CGT, FBT and Div7.

To be considered for this role you will have:
• 5+ years of Australian Tax experience
• Degree qualified and IPA/CA/CPA completed
