Congratulations to 𝐃𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐂𝐅𝐏®, Senior Wealth Adviser, who is a finalist for the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐅𝐀𝐀𝐀 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫® 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫.

Dawn is one of three finalists nationally. The award recognises a CFP® practitioner whose advice has led to strong client outcomes and who meets the highest professional standards.

Much of Dawn's career has been spent helping people feel more confident about money, from financial education for families to the day-to-day advice she gives her clients. An award judged on client outcomes is a fitting recognition of that work.

Congratulations also to fellow finalists. The winner will be announced at the FAAA Awards Gala Dinner during FAAA Congress in Melbourne on 26 November.

We spend our days helping clients plan for the future – but sometimes, it’s important to pause and think about our own.

The TWD team recently stepped away from our desks for TWD Day: an opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come, reconnect with our collective “why” and look ahead to what’s next.

A highlight was an engaging session with futurist and author 𝐆𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐚, who encouraged us to think differently about the changing world of work and the role AI can play within it.

Great advice needs a great team behind it. Could you help lead ours?

We’re hiring an 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 to join 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 in West Perth.

Reporting to our Chief Operating Officer, you’ll lead day-to-day operations across client service, administration and operational support – building capable teams and improving the systems and workflows that help our advisers deliver high-quality advice.

You’ll be joining a workplace that values inclusion, diversity, collaboration and new ideas – and encourages our people to live well.

If you have operations management experience in financial planning, wealth management or financial services, we’d love to hear from you.

What does your life actually need more of?

Most people’s first instinct might be money – but dig a little deeper and the answer is often more time with loved ones, greater freedom or less stress.

In our latest article, we explore how your dreams for the future can shape your financial strategy and help you create a life with money and meaning. We also share a simple exercise to help you identify what truly matters.

When was the last time you concentrated on one thing for more than three minutes?

If that question feels confronting, then we recommend you listen to our recent 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐋 podcast episode, where 𝐃𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬 and 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧 review Johann Hari’s bestselling book, 𝑆𝑡𝑜𝑙𝑒𝑛 𝐹𝑜𝑐𝑢𝑠.

Tech companies are stealing our precious time that could be used for learning, connection, exercise, creativity and following our passions – all the things that contribute to a life well-lived.

But what does this mean for young people, and how can we broach the conversation with them?

What could getting just 1% better every day mean for your life – and your finances?

In a recent episode of 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐋®, Dawn was joined by our resident book reviewer 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧 to discuss James Clear’s bestselling book, 𝐴𝑡𝑜𝑚𝑖𝑐 𝐻𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑡𝑠.

Together, they explore how small, consistent actions can help us:
• Build healthier financial habits
• Create systems that support our goals
• Make progress feel more visible
• Help our children develop positive routines and identities

Discover why meaningful change doesn’t have to happen all at once – and how one small action is the best place to start.

In this episode of 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐋®, we explore one of the most influential behaviour change books of our time—𝐴𝑡𝑜𝑚𝑖𝑐 𝐻𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑡𝑠 by James Clear.

With over 25 millions of copies sold worldwide, this book has reshaped how we think about habits, motivation, and long-term success.
But this conversation goes beyond personal development.

We focus on how parents can apply these ideas to help children and teens build habits that actually stick—whether it’s study routines, screen time, health, or money behaviours.

Because raising capable young people isn’t about perfection… it’s about creating systems that make good choices easier.

Systems Over Goals

We unpack the idea that:
- You don’t rise to the level of your goals—you fall to the level of your systems.
- While goals give direction, it’s daily systems and routines that drive results. For kids, this means shifting focus from outcomes (grades, performance) to repeatable behaviours.

𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬
One of the most powerful ideas from the book:
- The goal is not to read a book, the goal is to become a reader.
- We explore how helping kids shape identity— “I’m someone who studies” or “I’m someone who shows up”— can lead to more sustainable behaviour change than external pressure alone.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐩
Every habit follows a pattern:
Cue → Craving → Response → Reward

We discuss how this plays out in everyday life.

Everyone deserves the chance to reach their full potential – but many women in male-dominated fields, particularly sport, still face hurdles, including lack of opportunity, pay disparity and discrimination.

Here at 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬, we’re proud to say that 60% of our team is female, and supporting women on their financial journeys is a core part of our philosophy.

Here’s why we believe supporting women in sport – financially, professionally and personally – is so important: https://twd.com.au/supporting-women-in-sport-is-an-investment-in-our-future/
