Paige Newmark, Artistic Director
Paige is currently the Artistic Director of Shakespeare WA. Hailing from Oxford, England, Paige Newmark is an internationally acclaimed theatrical director and scholar who has directed and taught Shakespeare all over the world including Britain, Australia, South Africa, and throughout the USA. Although specialising in Renaissance theatre, Paige has directed across a range of theatre genres from Gilbert and Sullivan, through Alan Ayckbourn’s Bedroom Farce to Willy Russell’s Educating Rita, and also a series of award winning new plays in Los Angeles. Acting credits include David Zucker’s film For Goodness Sake, and a brief appearance in the sequel to Frank Marshall’s Who Framed Roger Rabbit, entitled Roller Coaster Rabbit, as well as the BBC’s Kavanaugh QC. He has taught and guest lectured at numerous renowned academic institutions including Stanford University, Williams University, UCLA, and USC in the USA, Rhodes University in South Africa, the University of Oxford, and more locally at the University of Western Australia, Notre Dame University and the University of Tasmania. For five summers he ran a teacher training course at Shakespeare’s Globe in London called ‘Teaching Teachers how to Teach Shakespeare.’ He is an Editorial Consultant for the journal Shakespeare in Southern Africa, and in 2008 he had a chapter published on maps and Marlowe in a new book entitled Renaissance Poetry and Drama in Context: Essays for Christopher Wortham. In addition, Paige spent three years as Founding Artistic Director of South Africa’s most successful touring Shakespeare company called Shakespeare SA (South Africa), as well as Founding Artistic Director of The Australian Shakespeare Festival. On a more personal note, Paige has a fourteen-year old son Timothy, and is married to Perth ballerina, Lisia, with whom he has a daughter called Rose. Katie Kent, General Manager

Shakespeare WA has three FREE double passes to see a screening of "Shakespeare Live From RSC" a once in a life time experience celebrating Shakespeare’s legacy from Stratford-Upon-Avon.
The screenings are THIS SATURDAY May 7 and/or THIS SUNDAY May 8 at 1.00pm at the Windsor Cinema, Nedlands. The choice is yours and what a Mother's Day gift this could be.
Winners will be chosen from the best answers to the question "Why should we still perform Shakespeare's plays 400 years after his death?"
