It's never really about the bookkeeping.

When people first reach out to me, they're usually not saying:

"I need someone to reconcile my accounts."

They're saying things like:

💭 "I'm so behind."

💭 "I'm scared to look at it."

💭 "I don't even know where to start."

💭 "I've been avoiding it for months."

And honestly?

That's completely normal.

But something shifts when there's a plan.

The panic starts to settle.

The mental load gets lighter.

You stop lying awake wondering if you've forgotten something important.

And instead of feeling embarrassed every time someone mentions compliance or the ATO, you start feeling in control again.

That's what I love most about what I do.

Not the spreadsheets.

Not the reports.

The relief.

The moment someone realises they don't have to carry it all on their own anymore.

If your books have been sitting in the "I'll deal with that later" basket, consider this your reminder:

No judgement.

Everything's fixable.

And you don't have to figure it out alone. 💛

All withholding schedules and tax tables have been updated. The changes apply from 1 July 2026.

If you employ staff, take note of the changes. Make sure you know how much you need to withhold from the payments you make to your employees and other workers.

Sometimes you become so close to what you do that you can’t see what’s possible anymore!

I was chatting with one of my inspiring members Bree founder of .bookkeeping recently. Reflecting on her 17 year business journey. What stood out to me was not just the growth she’s experienced, but the shift in how she sees herself and what’s possible for her business 🙏

So many business owners spend years working hard, doing all the things, serving clients, and keeping everything moving. Yet deep down they know they’re capable of more. They know there’s another level available to them, but they can’t quite see the path forward.

Sometimes what we need isn’t more information.

Sometimes we need clarity on looking at you and your business holistically and the bigger picture.

We need humans to help us see our blind spots, challenge our thinking, and remind us of the strengths we’ve been overlooking. We need to reconnect with our voice, our vision, and the impact we’re here to create. ✨

When that happens, everything starts to shift. We make decisions differently. We show up differently. We stop hiding behind our role, our title, or our service and start allowing people to connect with the person behind the business.

That’s where the magic happens. 💫 Let me know if this landed 👇🏾 🙏

This is reason and intention behind why I created the SPARK sprint 🔥

Because before growth comes visibility. Before visibility comes confidence. And before confidence comes clarity around who you are, what you stand for, and how you want to show up!

SPARK is designed for female founders ready to reconnect with your voice, strengthen your message, and stop overthinking how you’re showing up in your business.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, disconnected, or like you’re ready for your next level. Comment or DM Spark and I’ll send you info - also in bio. Limited spots which are filling fast 👏💥💥

Much Love

Can I be honest for a second?

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that being behind on your bookkeeping means you're bad at business.

It doesn't.

Most of the business owners I work with are incredible at what they do.

They're serving clients.
Managing staff.
Quoting jobs.
Answering emails at 9pm.
Trying to be present for their families.

And somewhere along the way, the bookkeeping gets pushed down the list.

Not because they don't care.

Because they're human.

So if you've been carrying around guilt because your books aren't where you'd like them to be, I want you to hear this:

💛 Being behind isn't a character flaw.

💛 Asking for help isn't failure.

💛 And everything is fixable.

No judgement.

Just a starting point.

What's one thing in your business you've been putting off lately?

Most business owners don't need more spreadsheets.

They need more visibility.

One of the simplest habits I recommend is a Weekly Money Date (with you, yourself and your biz!).

☕ Coffee.

📊 Your numbers.

📝 A few notes.

15 minutes to see:

• What's come in
• What's gone out
• What's coming up

You don't need to become obsessed with your numbers.

But you do need to know what's happening in your business.

Because guessing isn't a strategy.

What's your go-to coffee order while you work? 👇

🚨 Unpopular opinion:

Most BAS mistakes don't happen when you're lodging your BAS.

They happen months earlier.

Usually because something in Xero wasn't set up quite right.

And the tricky part?

You can be entering transactions perfectly and still end up with BAS issues if the foundations aren't correct.

It's a bit like baking a cake 🍰

You can follow the recipe exactly...

But if someone swapped the sugar for salt before you started, the result isn't going to be great.

That's why before I even think about BAS preparation, I always recommend checking:

✅ Organisation settings

✅ GST settings

✅ ATO connection

✅ BAS reporting setup

Because confidence starts with knowing your setup is right.

I've just created a simple BAS Confidence Starter Kit™ for business owners who want a quick, affordable way to check their foundations before BAS time rolls around.

No judgement.

No jargon.

Just simple steps.

❄️ Happy first day of winter

And yes… end of financial year is creeping up fast.

A couple of important payroll reminders as we head into June and July 👇

🗓️ STP finalisation is due by 14 July
Once you process your final June pay run, make sure you jump in and complete your end of year payroll finalisation. This confirms your employees’ year to date figures and lets them access their income statements.

If payroll makes you nervous, I genuinely love this stuff and I am always happy to help 💛

💰 Payday Super starts 1 July
From this date, super must be paid at the same time as wages. Not later. Not next month. Same day.

The good news is Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks already have this built into their systems. Once you process wages, you can simply go through and pay the super straight away.

My advice? Start now.

If you build the habit before it becomes mandatory, July will feel easy. It just becomes part of your normal payroll routine instead of a big change.

Think of it like putting your jumper on before you walk outside in winter. Better to be prepared than freezing later 🧣

Be ahead of your obligations, not scrambling after them.

If you need support with STP, payroll, or getting ready for Payday Super, reach out. I’ve got you.

"I already have an accountant." 💭

I hear this all the time.

And honestly? That's a good thing.

One of the biggest misconceptions in small business is that you need either a bookkeeper or an accountant.

The reality is that they do very different jobs, and when they work together, your business is usually in a much stronger position.

Think of your business finances like a picture.

Your bookkeeper helps create the picture by making sure all the pieces are accurate, organised, and up to date.

Your accountant then uses that picture to provide advice, planning, and guidance for the future.

Both roles are important.
Both bring value.
And both work best when they're working together.

As a bookkeeper, my role is to help keep your day-to-day financial records accurate and organised throughout the year.

That means things like:

✔️ Reconciling bank accounts

✔️ Managing payroll

✔️ Processing transactions

✔️ Preparing BAS information

✔️ Keeping your records up to date

✔️ Helping you understand what your numbers are actually telling you

An accountant's role is different.

They focus on things like:

✔️ Tax planning

✔️ Tax returns

✔️ Business structure advice

✔️ Financial strategy

✔️ Compliance guidance

✔️ Helping you make bigger-picture financial decisions

The best results often happen when your bookkeeper and accountant work together as a team.

Your accountant receives clean, accurate information.

Your bookkeeping stays aligned with current requirements.

And you have professionals supporting both the day-to-day details and the long-term direction of your business.

For many business owners, that means:

✨ Less stress

✨ Better visibility over your finances

✨ Fewer surprises at tax time

✨ More confidence making decisions

✨ More time spent running your business instead of worrying about the paperwork

I work with a lot of small business owners; mums and dads, who come to me feeling overwhelmed because they think they're supposed to understand everything themselves.

The truth is, you don't have to.

You don't need to be an expert in bookkeeping.

You don't need to know every tax rule.

We've got your back 🩵

🧾 Receipts everywhere?

In your car. In your handbag. In the laundry. Stuffed in a drawer you “will sort later” 😅

Let’s make this easier.

If you use Xero, Hubdoc is your best friend. Download the app, snap a photo or upload a screenshot and it stores it straight in your system 📲

If you are in MYOB, you can upload documents directly into your file using their inbuilt features.

Or if you prefer something that connects across multiple platforms, apps like Dext work with Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks. Take a photo, email it in, and it syncs beautifully.

Think of it like moving from a shoebox system to a digital filing cabinet 🗂️ Once it’s uploaded, it lives in your accounting file. Safe. Searchable. There when you need it.

You can even invite staff in to upload their own receipts, which saves you chasing paperwork at the end of the month 🙌

We’re heading towards a new financial year sooner than you think. This is the perfect time to clean up the process and build better habits now.

Future you at BAS time will be very grateful 💛

If you’re not sure which option suits your business, reach out and I’ll help you choose the right setup.
