Last night, Prosperity Director Alex Hardy and COO Melissa Rowe attended the latest Hunter Nexus dinner, co-hosted by Business Hunter and The University of Newcastle, Australia 🚆

Keynote speakers Tim Parker (CEO, High Speed Rail Authority), Andrew Milne (Executive Director, Rail Development, Transport for NSW) and Jacqueline Power (Project Director, Future Fleet Program, Transport for NSW) explained how Hunter businesses can benefit from High Speed Rail and the Future Fleet Program. They also covered plans to revitalise local train manufacturing.

Fiona Love (Head of Workforce Development, Australasian Railway Association) and Ivan Waterfield (CEO, HunterNet) then joined them for a panel discussion. Together, they talked about the skills and workforce Hunter businesses will need to make the most of this investment.

Thank you to Business Hunter and the University of Newcastle for bringing local leaders together to talk about the Hunter's future.

Great to join the ICAEW Sydney community last night at The Royal Exchange where Graham Southgate presented Charting Your Financial Future.

Thanks to Adam Sealey for the invitation, and to the roughly 35 chartered accountants who came along. The plan was to cover superannuation and then insurance. The super questions kept coming, though, and we never made it to part two.

We talked through contribution caps, the bring-forward rule, non-concessional contributions and how to make the most of super at different life stages. The questions were thoughtful, and they showed that financial professionals often don't get a chance to focus on their own finances.

The insurance session might need a sequel. 😉

Prosperity's COO Melissa Rowe joined local business leaders today at the Newcastle Business Club October Luncheon, Leading with Risk and Relevance, at the Newcastle Jockey Club.

It was great to hear from the panel featuring Llewellyn Hartley, Head of Group Platforms at NGM Group; Claudia Tolhurst, Executive Officer of the Hunter Melanoma Foundation; and Mike Collins, Head of Marketing and Communications at HMRI.

Llewellyn, Claudia and Mike talked about the risks they've taken to keep their organisations relevant. They've invested ahead of the curve, challenged the status quo and made bold decisions without knowing how things would turn out. They explained the thinking behind those decisions, shared what they learned along the way, and described the rewards they gained by taking those risks.

The Newcastle Knights are in the Grand Final, and our Newcastle team couldn't be prouder.

The whole city is buzzing, and our office is no different. Today the team came in wearing red and blue jerseys, scarves and some very creative hats, with balloons and Knights cupcakes for good measure.

Newcastle is where Prosperity started, so this one means a lot to us. We're right behind the boys this weekend.
