💰 QLD BUSINESS OWNERS A FEW GRANTS TO HAVE ON YOUR RADAR!

A little heads-up for Queensland businesses - there are a few grant opportunities worth knowing about at the moment. 👀

🏭 Transforming Queensland Manufacturing Grants Round 2
Currently OPEN, with eligible manufacturers able to apply for matched funding of up to $1.5 million to support significant transformation projects.
📅 Applications close 1pm, 25 November 2026.
🚧 Construction Business Advancement Grant

Currently listed by Business Queensland as opening soon, with dates still to be confirmed.

🛡️ Secure Communities Partnership Program – Round 3
Also currently listed as opening soon, with further details and dates to come.
If one of these sounds like it could fit your business, it’s worth checking the eligibility criteria early rather than waiting until applications are about to close!
And remember a grant isn't necessarily free money without strings attached. Make sure you understand the eligibility requirements, what expenditure is covered and any co-contribution requirements before committing to anything. 😊

** UPDATE - This has been extended to 30 June 2027!**

🚨 ATO CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS ARE ENDING

From 1 December 2026, the ATO will no longer accept credit cards as a payment method.

This means 30 November 2026 is the final day taxpayers can make ATO payments using a credit card.

💳 Already have a payment plan linked to a credit card?

You’ll need to update your payment method before your first instalment due after 30 November to make sure your payment plan continues as required.

The ATO is contacting taxpayers who currently have payment plans linked to credit cards, but it’s a good idea to review your payment arrangements now rather than waiting until the last minute.

Alternative ATO payment methods will still be available, including options such as BPAY and direct debit.

👉 The takeaway?
If you currently rely on a credit card to pay your tax obligations, now is the time to start planning for an alternative payment method.

Changes apply from 1 December 2026.

A fresh start means fresh reminders. Here are the key dates to keep on your radar this month...

🚨 BYE BYE, CARD SURCHARGES! 💳👋

From 1 October 2026, businesses will no longer be able to add a surcharge when customers pay by card.
Yep… that little “+1.9% card fee” at the checkout is about to disappear.

So, what does this mean for small businesses?
💳 Card processing fees aren’t disappearing - your bank/payment provider will still charge you!
🚫 But you won’t be able to separately pass that cost onto your customer as a card surcharge.
💰 Instead, you will need to factor those merchant fees into your overall pricing - just like rent, insurance, software, etc.
🏦 This is a very good time to review what your payment provider is charging you. A small difference in merchant fees can add up quickly!

The changes kick in from 1 October 2026, so if you currently surcharge customers, now is the time to:
👉 Check your merchant fees
👉 Review your pricing
👉 Update your invoicing/POS settings
👉 Remove automatic card surcharges from 1 October
