Just a reminder that pre fill info trickles in to the ATO throughout July, give us a few weeks for the systems and data to be ready before lodging, to prevent amendments down the track πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘Œ 😬

If you're an employer, here's your friendly reminder: Single Touch Payroll (STP) finalisation is due by 14 July 2026.
βœ… This confirms your 2025–26 payroll data is complete
βœ… It lets your employees access it via myGov to lodge their return
βœ… Most software (Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks) walks you through it step by step

Don't leave it to the last minute β€” get it done early and tick it off the list.

Before you rush your tax return....wait

Your income info - from work, the bank, your health fund - isn't ready with the ATO until late July, so lodging now can mean mistakes and a slower refund. Get it done right the first time, we are booking appointments for late July onwards.

⚠ small business owners! 1 July is coming, and it is likely going to be one of the most expensive dates that small business owners have seen in years.

1) Payday super starts from 1 July 2026, which means super now needs to be paid on every pay run (not quarterly). You need to be looking at your cash flow to ensure this is manageable. The super clearing house is also not going to be operational from 1 July - so make sure you have another option in place.

2) Minimum wage is going up from $24.95 to $26.44 an hour from 1 July, your payroll costs are about to go up! look into award rates relevant to your industry to ensure you are on top of this.

3) increases in ASIC fees - including company registrations and annual review fees, as well as business name renewals.

4) Fuel excise relief ends midnight on 30 June, make sure you take this into account when quoting work involving travel costs.

5) Branded text messages to advertise - make sure you look into the new Centre ID register to make sure they are not being marked as a scam (thereby wasting money)

6) Accountants are now being brought under the Anti Money Laundering/Counter Terrorism reporting requirements from 1 July, hence expect more documentation, reporting requirements and longer engagement processes as there are a fair few hoops accountants now need to go through to onboard clients.

Times are certainly tough out there! over the last three years Australia has lost nearly 33,500 small employing businesses, and more a closing than opening.

Ahead of 1 July, take a look at your pricing and ensure you are factoring in rising wage and compliance costs - hang in there!
