✨ Day 2 of the 47th AKBC–KABC Joint Meeting ✨
The 47th AKBC–KABC Joint Meeting concluded at Adelaide Oval, bringing together senior leaders from Australia and Korea for a full day of high-level discussion under the theme, “Trusted Partners in a Changing World”.
The program commenced with an Opening Ceremony featuring remarks from The Hon. Martin Ferguson AM, Chair of the Australia–Korea Business Council; Dr. Chang, In Hwa, Chair of the Korea–Australia Business Council and CEO of POSCO Holdings; Senator the Hon. Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs; and a video message by Park Jung-sung, Minister for Trade, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, Republic of Korea.
Their remarks highlighted the strength of the Australia–Korea relationship and the importance of continued cooperation between government and industry.
Discussions throughout the day explored:
🎤 Trusted Partners in a Changing World, examining the evolving strategic and economic landscape and its implications for the Australia–Korea relationship.
🎤 Future Opportunities in Steel, Battery Materials and Critical Minerals, exploring how Australia and Korea can strengthen supply chains and support the industries of the future.
🎤 Innovation, R&D and Commercialisation, focusing on opportunities to transform research and emerging technologies into practical bilateral partnerships.
🎤 Energy Transition, Decarbonisation and Emerging Technologies, examining the role of collaboration, investment and innovation in supporting shared energy and net-zero ambitions.
Thank you also to the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Korea in Australia, Jimin Kim for delivering remarks at the Joint Meeting Luncheon.
The program concluded with reflections from The Hon Martin Ferguson AM and Dr In-hwa Chang, followed by the signing of the Joint Statement, reaffirming both councils’ commitment to strengthening the Australia–Korea economic partnership.
