Australia’s expanded AML/CTF regime from 1 July 2026 is more than a compliance change — it also changes how families, investors and advisers need to think about documentation.
In our recent discussion with SBS Vietnamese, Ha Nguyen - Advanced Partners’ Managing Director highlighted a practical issue we increasingly see in cross-border transactions: having the funds is not enough — being able to clearly evidence where the funds came from and how they moved is equally important.
This is particularly relevant where parents overseas provide significant financial support to children purchasing property in Australia.
Our practical message is simple:
“The path of the money should be supported by the path of the documents.”
Good planning and a clear paper trail can help ensure compliance and significantly reduce complications when the transaction eventually takes place. 📑
