Wyndham , one of Victoria’s most beloved and biggest outdoor cultural festivals, returns in 2025 with even greater vibrancy, inclusivity, and celebration. What began in 2013 as a modest community initiative has grown into a flagship multicultural event, attracting over 15,000 attendees annually from across and beyond.
This year’s festival will take place on Saturday, 25th October 2025 at Lawrie Emmins Reserve, Laverton North, promising an unforgettable evening of light, music, food, and fireworks.

The success of Wyndham Diwali is rooted in strong partnerships and grassroots collaboration. The festival is proudly supported by Wyndham City Council, local businesses, volunteers, and community organisations. In 2024, the event partnered with the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre to promote health awareness — a testament to the festival’s spirit of compassion and civic engagement.
Honouring Diwali’s Spiritual Legacy
Beyond the festivities, Wyndham Diwali honours the deeper meaning of Diwali — the triumph of light over darkness, wisdom over ignorance, and good over evil. According to the ancient Kalpa texts of the Vedanga, Diwali marks the renewal of ṛta (cosmic order) and the victory of jyoti (light) over tamas (darkness). Celebrated on the Amavasya (new moon) of the Kartika month, it is a time of spiritual cleansing, gratitude, and renewal.
The lighting of lamps (deepa) is a symbolic gesture of inviting divine prosperity and dispelling ignorance — a tradition that continues to inspire communities across the globe.

Wyndham Diwali also commemorates sacred legends, including:
• The return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya
• The victory of Lord Krishna over Narakasura
• The worship of Goddess Lakshmi, bestower of wealth and purity
