🍁Autumn is certainly upon us, and the trees are commencing their wonderfully colourful display before some months of slumber and renewal take place.
Just as the full moon peaks, many people worldwide will celebrate the meaning of Easter.

We live in a time of uncertainty with overseas events occupying not only our minds but also our wallets.
The cost of fuel and the difficulties in supplies of fertiliser are placing enormous financial and emotional distress to many in our own wonderful region.

The ATO have announced a fuel tax crisis payment plan that assists if the current situation is disrupting cashflow availability.
We are also discussing with various contractors, how to fairly levy to pass on the increased costs as a temporary measure. Basically, how not to go broke working!

If you are financially concerned about the current economic environment, please reach out to see if we can assist.
We have many years of collective experience in our team and have coached our clients through numerous natural, and man-made disruptions to the economy.

So, as we head towards a long weekend for many, we leave you with these thoughts.

Be kind and considerate. We don’t all cope equally with events that disrupt our lives.
If you are travelling, and we do suspect the roads may be a little quieter this Easter, please travel with the utmost care.
And may you and those in your life have a wonderful and restful Easter. And enjoy the colourful display that mother nature puts on for free.

A Happy Easter to you all.

Team JPA – With compassion.

🏢 ARE YOU AN EMPLOYER?
If you employ staff, you need to know the following:

📢 Important change for employers – Payday Super is coming
From 1 July 2026, superannuation will need to be paid at the same time as wages, not quarterly as it is now.
This new system is called Payday Super and it means:
✅ Super must be paid and received by the super fund within 7 business days of payday
✅ Quarterly super payments will no longer be allowed
✅ Late payments can trigger penalties, even if delays are caused by systems or banks
💡 What employers should be doing now:
Check and test your payroll software early
Plan for cash flow changes
Consider starting to pay super with wages ahead of time
Make sure you’re ready before 1 July 2026

📩 If you have questions or want to talk through what this means for your business, feel free to get in touch with our office

🍁Almost the weekend again.

And oh wow, it’s feeling autumnal.

As we head rapidly towards March, we acknowledge International Women’s Day – 8th March 2026.

The key themes this year are focusing on justice, safety, and equality. It seems strange in some respects that we still have to strive for this at these times.

From a financial perspective, the pay gender gap is still considerably wide.

As of May 2025, the Workplace Gender Equality Agency reported a difference of 11.5% for full time work. In real terms, based on the average wage in Australia, this difference equates to $12,600.00 annually. (Source WEGA 2025)

This flow on effect over years in the workforce translates to lower superannuation and standard of living in retirement on average, for women.

In leadership and justice, women represent less than 40% of judges globally and less than one third of researchers.

Whilst some of the points may seem moot at first glance, more detailed examination and reflection makes one consider what decisions are being made by the courts as well as what fields of research are being prioritised in the pursuit of better health and living standards for all.
Finally, relationship breakdowns have a huge financial impact, particularly on women. The risk of women falling into poverty rises from 9% to 22% for women in the first year compared to a rise of 9% to 13% for men. (University of Melbourne study - 2022)

If you are concerned about your financial health and how to move to a better position, we encourage you to discuss your financial goals with our financial planning team. Together, let’s work towards alleviating some of those concerns with compassion and understanding.

We highlight the above matters, not to cause angst between genders, but simply to help us all understand the importance of equality. To create discussion and understanding between each other and hopefully move in a positive direction.

At JPA, we celebrate what our predominately female team bring to the table.

They hold leadership and senior roles in our practice.
They are treated equally, irrespective of their role to our team. Each individual is a vital cog in our wheel, and this is reinforced both by action and dialogue.

So, from all of us at JPA – Happy International Women’s Day and let us all continue to work towards a more balanced and equal life.

Have a happy and relaxing weekend ☀️

🎉 At JPA we are back and refreshed with most of the team having the good fortune to have a holiday.
And we certainly have started welcoming back our much-appreciated clients into our office.

As 2025 closed its curtains, resolutions were made (and in some cases short-lived) whilst those of us who are “slightly older” were slightly more pessimistic about such commitments and ignored that particular tradition altogether!

Our end of the year celebrations were quite sobering in some respects. As we reflected on our personal journeys in 2025, we noted some significant highs and sometimes that were quite challenging.
We often hear people say they are so glad a year is over and hope the following year is much better. In reality, we have no control over those wished for outcomes.

Here at JPA Grand Central, we do have some control…. Over our work environment, the support we provide to our team and our stakeholders. The compassion in which we support and assist others who entrust their livelihoods to us.

So, our team are ready to take flight into 2026, embracing the challenges we encounter whilst pausing to enjoying the beauty of our wonderful region as the months pass.

We sincerely wish you a very safe and wonderful 2026.
May it be kind and fulfilling for you and those you love.

JPA – If you believe in yourself, the sky’s the limit.

Happy New Year 🥳

☀️☀️ And the year went…….where?

Our collective calendars have turned over to December again and we are shaking our heads trying to understand where time goes…..
Even the young amongst us are shaking their heads in disbelief!

But what an amazing amount of rain for November and so desperately needed. For this we are grateful.

The passing of time so rapidly can be taken as an important reminder. Life goes quickly and events happen during our journey that remind us just how precious our time is.
And so, as we head towards Christmas day and navigate everything from jostling for car parks and space in the shops to getting our home just right if we have the privilege of people to share the time with, let’s all just take a long slow breath.

When we get frustrated with the shoppers that seem a little confused or unpleasant, we can remind ourselves that we don’t know their journey or why they are upset.
They could have had a year that is one they wish they could forget and erase from their mind forever.

Our reminder is to simply go gently….On ourselves and on others….

Stroll rather than sprint towards the forthcoming day.

Have a wonderful weekend and if you are out and about, expect 4 seasons in one day.
After all, we do live in the best part of the world, but we have no control over the weather.

🔵 Remembering those who paid the ultimate price for protecting us.

National Police Remembrance Day 2025.

This week we paused to remember those who have fallen 🔵

Our police are often put in danger whilst carrying out their duty to maintain law and order and this year is a stark reminder of the perils faced with the abhorrent actions perpetrated near Bright in June.
Many of us have travelled to this picturesque part of the state for rest and relaxation. To suddenly contrast our memories with such a tragic event has taken time to come to terms with.

With crime, in particular youth crime, albeit repeatedly committed by a small proportion of our society, our officers must not only protect the victim but also ensure the safety of the perpetrators.
This places our force in an invidious and frustrating position and adds to the already stressful environment in which they operate.

And so, to past and present members of our police forces, we say thank you for your commitment and we firmly keep the families and loved ones of those who have fallen in our hearts.

🌧️ 🌧️
To local news now, and it’s raining. Many are heaving a collective sigh of relief.
We are not out of the woods by any means, but we are slowly replenishing our water storage.

There is something quite magnificent to see paddocks of silage being harvested and stored for the future.
It is also a wonderful sight to see good growth in our paddocks around the region which has been through an extremely difficult year exacerbated by a lack of fodder.

And so, as we head towards the weekend, spare a thought for those who are working the land, particularly the contractors out and about.
It can be frustrating to get stuck behind farm machinery and delay the end of our destination.
However, if we have no food, the predicament is far worse.

Have a wonderful weekend and don’t forget to pack the brolly, the sunscreen and water. We look like getting a typical spring weekend with a vast array of weather ☔️☀️

And a reminder to all. Make sure you lift the blinds up an hour early in the house this Sunday morning. The extra hour of sunlight with the start of daylight savings can play havoc by fading them quicker than normal. 😊
