Put simply, CGT isn’t a separate tax. It’s the income tax you pay on the profit you make when you sell or dispose of an asset.

This includes things like:
🏠 rental properties
📉 shares
💻 crypto assets.

If you dispose of an asset (meaning, you stop owning it) a CGT event may occur. That’s when you’ll need to report a capital gain or capital loss in your tax return.

Capital gain: will increase the tax you need to pay.

Capital loss: can be used to offset other capital gains you make in the future. This will reduce the tax you need to pay, so don’t forget to report these!

For Lily ❤️

Our hearts are absolutely broken for Lily’s family and friends. I honestly cannot imagine the pain they are feeling right now, and my heart goes out to every one of them during this unimaginable and difficult time.

I also want to send my love and thoughts to the amazing search crews, emergency services, SES and volunteers who searched tirelessly to find Lily. We can never thank you enough for everything you did and for never giving up hope.

And to everyone who prayed, shared, followed and held onto hope that Lily would be found safe, our love and thoughts are with you too.

For that brief moment when we thought Lily had been found alive, I honestly felt overwhelmed with happiness. I think so many of us did. We thought maybe, just maybe, we had our miracle and that Lily was going to be okay.

Then came the devastating news that she had not survived, and to go from that incredible feeling of happiness and relief to such heartbreaking news was just devastating—and it is so hard to put into words.

I think now we just need to stop for a moment and remember Lily for the beautiful young lady she was.

Hold your loved ones a little tighter tonight. Give them that extra cuddle and tell them you love them.

And send all your love, prayers and support to Lily’s family.

Rest peacefully, Lily. ❤️
