𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲

As an 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁, your role will primarily focus on processing and preparation work. You won’t be expected to review work or lead staff at this stage - instead, you’ll be supported to strengthen your technical foundations and progress your career over time.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

• Preparation of BAS and IAS
• Preparation of financial statements
• Preparation of income tax returns for individuals, companies and trusts
• Accounting file maintenance and reconciliations
• Use of cloud-based accounting and document management software
• Liaising internally with Managers and the wider team to meet deadlines

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂

• 2 - 4 years’ experience in public practice accounting
• Degree qualified in Accounting
• CA or CPA commenced (or intention to commence) is advantageous
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Comfortable working in a processing-focused role
• Enjoys being part of a team and contributing to a positive workplace culture

Did you know the ATO's General Interest Charge (GIC) is no longer tax-deductible?

If your business has an outstanding tax debt and you're accruing GIC, that interest charge cannot be claimed as a deduction on your tax return - meaning it costs you dollar for dollar, not at your marginal rate. This change makes it even more important to:

✔ Stay on top of your BAS and income tax lodgements
✔ Enter a payment arrangement early if cash flow is tight
✔ Avoid letting small debts compound into larger ones. GIC accrues daily and the rate is currently well above standard commercial lending rates.

Proactive management of your tax position is no longer just good housekeeping - it's a real cost-saving measure. Speak to your accountant if you have an outstanding ATO debt. Options exist, but acting early makes all the difference.
