If itโs your only job, or main source of income, yes, you should claim the tax-free threshold on your TFN declaration form.
This means, the first $18,200 you earn each year is tax free.
But itโs important to know, your employer might still take tax out of your pay if it looks like youโll earn more than $18,200 (just to be safe).
If you donโt end up earning more than $18,200, youโll get the tax back when you lodge your return.
If you have multiple jobs, only claim the tax-free threshold from ONE of them (usually the highest paying).
The tax-free threshold applies to your TOTAL income, not to each job separately. So, if job 1, job 2 and job 3 all think theyโre your only employer, they might not withhold enough tax.
