You may have more time than you think!

Most registered tax agents have access to a special lodgement program, allowing them to lodge eligible clients' tax returns after the usual deadline.

Here's what you need to know: If you're using a tax agent for the first time or switching agents, the ATO recommends contacting your chosen agent before 31 October 2026 to be part of their lodgement program.

We’re pleased to introduce Mark Lawry from Suntax, who will be joining our panel of experienced local business owners at the SBA Annual Dinner.
Mark is an accountant at heart. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia, a registered tax agent, holds a Bachelor of Businessand an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning.
He is also an owner of Suntax, a technology-driven tax and accounting firm specialising in small to medium-sized businesses and proudly operating for 37 years.
Suntax was founded in Sunbury in 1989 by Mark’s father, John Lawry, together with Mark’s Aunty Joan and Mark himself. From its beginnings in O’Shanassy Street, the business later moved into the old Horseland building in Horne Street and today employs more than 40 team members, including 11 owners.
Using technology alongside specialist financial expertise, Suntax now services clients across Australia, with a strong focus on helping family businesses grow and creating long-term wealth strategies for their clients.
Mark brings decades of experience not only in accounting and financial strategy, but also in building, growing and evolving a successful local business across generations.
And when he’s not helping clients manage their finances, Mark is a father to two daughters aged 18 and 21 and, in his own words, is currently a walking ATM. 💸
We’re looking forward to hearing Mark’s insights on business growth, succession, financial decision-making and the realities of running a successful family business at this year’s SBA Annual Dinner.

There's been a lot of talk about the $1,000 instant tax deduction, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗱.This relates to the 2027 tax year, so for this year the existing deduction rules still apply, so keep those receipts! If you're unsure what you can claim this year, get in touch.
