My competitor charges less than I do, should I reduce my rates?
Short answer .. a hard no. This should never be the reason you reduce your rates, EVER!. I understand the need to remain competitive, but I understand the need to stay in business more. And in order to stay in business your pricing needs to be right for your business first and foremost.
In short, you don't know what it's costing your competitor to run their business, and nor should you. You should stay in your lane, but know that your costs may not be the same as your competitor and therefore if you just copy them, you may find yourself not covering your own costs, which leads to cash erosion, which leads to closing the doors.
Be sure to know your breakeven point first and then work on pricing your goods or services competitively. If this still doesn't match your competitor, adjust your marketing plan to demonstrate just how much value your product or service has.
