13 years ago this weekend, I took a leap of faith and started D.S Audit Services.
Like many business owners, I didn't start with a large team, a big office, or a guaranteed roadmap to success. What I had was a belief that there was room for a firm built on technical excellence, independence, integrity, and genuine client relationships.
Over the years, we've experienced the highs and lows that every business faces. Regulatory changes, economic uncertainty, technological disruption, and the constant challenge of adapting to an evolving profession.
But every challenge brought an opportunity to learn, improve, and grow.
Looking back, I'm most proud not of the number of audits completed or the years in business, but of the trust we've earned. Trust from clients who continue to engage us year after year. Trust from advisers and professional partners who confidently refer their clients to us. And trust from our team members who have helped shape the business along the way.
Running a business for 13 years teaches you a few things:
• Reputation is built slowly and lost quickly.
• Relationships matter more than transactions.
• Quality and integrity never go out of style.
• The best investments are often in people.
• Success is rarely about a single big moment—it's about consistently showing up every day.
