Having an adviser wasn't the problem.

This client already had one.

But despite receiving advice, they told us they still didn't fully understand their future and only felt they understood about 70% of their situation.

That's where our approach is different.

We don't believe financial advice should be measured by the number of pages in a report or the complexity of the strategy.

We believe it should be measured by one thing:

Does the client understand it well enough to make a confident decision?

That's why we draw it out, map the options visually, stress-test different scenarios and explain complex strategies in plain English.

Not because our clients aren't capable of understanding technical concepts.

Because they shouldn't need to become financial advisers to understand their own future.

Ultimately, after 3 months of working with us - the client retired!

"You provided clarity and allowed us to confidently consider our options and make decisions."

Most Australians spend their entire working life paying tax.

Then retire without realising they can hold up to $2.1 million each in retirement-phase super where the tax rate on earnings is 0% & they can take out as much as they want, without paying tax on it!

Yesterday I sat across from a client who had no idea.

That's not unusual.

Most people spend decades focused on what investments they own.

Far fewer understand the tax environment those investments sit inside.

Sometimes that can make a bigger difference than the investment itself.

You've probably logged into your super.

Checked the balance.

Thought:

"That seems okay."

Then moved on.

The problem is that super isn't something that usually breaks overnight.

Small inefficiencies compound quietly.

The wrong investment setting.

Missed contribution opportunities.

Strategies that no longer match your goals.

Paying more tax than necessary.

Complacency is expensive.

It just doesn't send you a bill.

The people who retire with the most flexibility often aren't the people who made one brilliant decision at 60.

They're the people who made a series of small decisions at 45.

Or 50.

Or even earlier.

Because when it comes to wealth, time does most of the heavy lifting.

Most financial mistakes don't happen because people are careless.

They happen because nobody showed them the full picture.

A quick phone call.

A recommendation from a friend.

An article online.

A piece of guidance that answered one question...
..but never considered the other ten.

Should you invest or reduce debt?

Contribute to super or keep funds available?

Buy the property or strengthen cashflow?

Retire sooner or create more flexibility first?

The people I work with are often successful professionals who have already done a lot right.

What they're looking for isn't another opinion.

They're looking for someone who can connect all the moving parts.

Because confidence isn't knowing everything.

It's knowing your options, understanding the trade-offs, and making decisions with the benefit of a complete strategy.

The most expensive financial mistakes rarely feel like mistakes at the time.

They usually start with incomplete information.

Proof that knowing the answer and remembering the answer on camera are two very different skill sets.

People don't wake up wanting financial advice.

They wake up wanting options.

The option to retire sooner.

The option to spend more time with family.

The option to take a career break.

The option to say "no" to things they no longer enjoy.

Advice is rarely about products.

It's about making better decisions while there's still time for those decisions to matter.

That's where the magic happens.

Everyone wants financial education.

Indi wants pats.

One of us is much more persistent about getting what they want.

A lot of people think retirement means moving all their money to cash.

It doesn't.

One of the most common conversations I have with people approaching retirement is helping them understand that starting a pension doesn't mean your investments have to stop working too.

Your money is still your money. You still choose how it's invested.

For many Australians, retirement could last 20, 30 or even 40 years. That's a long time to have your purchasing power quietly eroded by inflation.

The better question isn't:

"Can I keep investing in retirement?"

It's:

"How should my money be invested to support the lifestyle I want for the next few decades?"

Because retirement isn't about stopping.

It's about having the freedom to spend more time doing more of what you love.

Debt; the buzz word on everyone's lips atm...okay, maybe not. But still - how about those rate rises?!

It means every penny you have offsetting your home loan gets a risk free rate of return of approx. 6+%.

Part 6 of our education series highlights ways to pay down debt whilst simultaneously growing your wealth.
