We were proud to have three national finalists at the 2026 Accountants Daily Australian Accounting Awards, held last week at The Star in Sydney.

Darren Crowther, Simon Byers and Adam Pasquill were recognised across Partner of the Year, Accounting Consultant of the Year and New Partner of the Year.

While we didn’t take home a win on the night, we’re incredibly proud of this national recognition and what it reflects about the calibre of work being delivered across Highview. Well done team! 👏

Applications for the ATO's Fuel Response Payment Plan close on 30 June, potentially allowing eligible businesses up to three years to repay outstanding tax debts. If you're struggling with tax debt, now is the time to act.

The Australian Taxation Office is reminding taxpayers of their obligations and advise that some tax returns may be selected for review before being processed. The ATO has advised that it will be increasing its review activity on individual tax returns lodged during the 2026 tax season.

The Reserve Bank of Australia has held the cash rate steady at 4.35%, giving mortgage holders a moment to catch their breath after three consecutive increases earlier this year.

The decision to pause reflects a more cautious approach from the board as it waits to see how the economy responds to the rate rises already in place.

We're excited to announce the appointment of our Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Please join us in welcoming Geoff Campbell-Burns to Highview Accounting & Financial as our new COO.

As Highview continues to grow, we're focused on ensuring we have the right structure and leadership in place to support our people, clients and future direction. The creation of the COO role is an important step in that journey, helping strengthen alignment, communication and support across the team.

Geoff brings more than 25 years of experience across executive leadership, operations and business transformation, having worked across industries including professional services, financial services, government and technology. Over the past eight years, he has held COO roles leading businesses and large-scale transformation programs with a strong focus on people, collaboration and practical outcomes.

Beyond work, Geoff enjoys spending time with his wife, their two sons aged 21 and 19, and their much-loved 13-year-old labrador. A lot of his weekends are spent watching his boys play sport or catching up with family and friends. He's also an avid sports fan and passionate Hawthorn supporter who rarely misses a game.
Geoff has a genuine love of travel, food and wine - whether discovering new restaurants or cooking at home. A previous eight-year stint living in the UK only added to his appetite for exploration. He also enjoys photography, collecting vintage posters, cinema, theatre and politics.

We're thrilled to have Geoff on board and look forward to the experience and leadership he'll bring to Highview.

Our Bass Coast office, led by Partner Carlia Morgan, is growing from strength to strength, and we have this incredible team to thank for it. Throughout the day, we’ll be introducing our new Bass Coast team.

𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗠𝗘𝗚𝗔𝗡

Megan lives in Phillip Island with her partner and her much-loved dog Piper, while slowly renovating their beach shack into something uniquely their own. Originally from Prince Edward Island, Canada, she brings a grounded, adventurous spirit and a strong love of the outdoors.

Before joining Highview, Megan worked as a yoga facilitator, running classes, trainings and retreats. She is currently completing her Cert IV in Accounting & Bookkeeping and is excited to continue building her skills and growing her career in the accounting industry.

When she’s not working, you’ll usually find Megan outdoors – whether that’s yoga, hiking, camping, paddling, swimming or snowboarding, or enjoying slower moments baking, reading, or spending time by the coast with her partner and Piper.

𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗟

Rachel has recently made the move to Wonthaggi with her family and two dogs, Patchie and Lucky, and is enjoying settling into life on the Bass Coast. The change of pace has been a welcome one as she settles into her new home and starts setting up her dedicated craft space.

Warm-hearted, creative and grounded, Rachel brings a calm and caring energy to the team, along with experience across health, wellness and accounting practice. Before joining Highview, she worked as a dental nurse, studied remedial massage, and later moved into the accounting industry.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find Rachel creating something – from crochet and jewellery making to painting, journaling and craft projects with her son. She enjoys visiting local markets, spending time at the beach, picking up fresh produce or craft inspiration, and winding down at home with family, dogs, and a good board game or movie.
