🔄 Summary Table

Date Requirement
1 Jul FY begins & SG rate rises to 12%

21 Jul Monthly June BAS/IAS; WA payroll tax reconciliation

⚠️ Important Update

From July 1, 2025, interest on tax debts charged by the ATO (approx. 11.17% pa) is no longer tax-deductible. This change can significantly increase the cost of carrying overdue tax debts, so businesses are strongly advised to pay on time or seek financial advice immediately ().

💡 Tips for July
• Update payroll software to reflect the SG increase to 12%.
• Finalise STP early to allow time for corrections.
• Schedule payments in advance, especially for BAS and superannuation, to avoid processing delays.
• Reconcile and lodge monthly BAS early if you’re a monthly lodger.
• Prepare trusts’ TFN data, if applicable

📱💼 Work + Personal = Split Your Claim!

Do you use your own phone (or any other personal item) for business? The ATO lets you claim only the work‑related portion — and that means doing a quick “percentage check.”

How to apportion an expense in 3 easy steps:
1️⃣ Track one representative month (spreadsheet or phone bill).
2️⃣ Work out the % that’s work‑related.
3️⃣ Apply that % to the whole year’s cost.

Example: 120 calls in April → 72 are business → 72 ÷ 120 = 60 %.
You can claim 60 % of your annual phone bill.

⚠️ Heads‑up: If you claim the ATO fixed‑rate WFH method (67 ¢/hr), your phone & internet are already included. No double‑dipping!

📅 EOFY Bookkeeping Hacks Every Business Owner Should Know! 💼✅
with JGW Bookkeeping

As we wrap up the financial year, it’s time to get those numbers in order and make sure you’re not leaving any money on the table! Here are some EOFY bookkeeping tricks to help you finish strong:

🔍 1. Reconcile EVERYTHING
Match up your bank statements, invoices, and receipts. Accuracy now saves headaches (and penalties) later!

🧾 2. Prepay Expenses Where Possible
Eligible to claim deductions? Prepay rent, utilities, or insurance and reduce your taxable income.

📦 3. Write Off Bad Debts
Have unpaid invoices you know won’t be collected? Write them off before June 30.

💻 4. Update Your Asset Register
Outdated or unused assets? Review and write them off — you may be eligible for instant asset write-offs.

🧮 5. Review Payroll and Super
Double-check that all wages and super payments are up-to-date and correctly reported — especially before STP finalisation.

📁 6. Digitise & Store Your Records
Make EOFY 2025 easier — go paperless with clean, cloud-based records.
