Today I had the privilege of returning to Whitefriars College, my old high school, to speak with a small group of Year 10 students about my journey since graduating and the path that led me to becoming a Financial Adviser.

I shared some of the highlights of my life since leaving school, along with some of the challenges and difficult times that have shaped who I am today. I was grateful for the opportunity to be open about these experiences and hopefully provide lessons the boys can take into their own lives.

One message I was passionate about sharing is that “school results do not define who you are or what you can achieve”. Looking back, I certainly wasn’t a standout student academically (quite the opposite in fact). What has made the biggest difference has been showing up consistently, staying curious, working hard, and being kind to others.

What impressed me most was the quality of the questions. One student in particular asked some incredibly thoughtful questions about investing and building wealth, which reminded me how important financial literacy is for young people.

Thank you to the staff and students at Whitefriars for having me back. It was a privilege to return to where my own journey began and hopefully inspire the next generation to back themselves and keep learning.
