28 August | Taxable Payments Annual Report

If your business works in an industry where you pay contractors for services, you may have a Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR) due on 28 August.

The TPAR helps the ATO keep track of payments made to contractors in certain industries, including building and construction, cleaning, courier and road freight, IT and security services.

It’s one of those annual reporting requirements that can easily sneak up on you, so it’s worth checking whether it applies to your business.

At Clinton & Co, we help our clients stay on top of these requirements so there are fewer surprises at tax time.

If you’d like an accountant who takes the time to explain what’s happening in your business, rather than simply ticking the boxes, you’re welcome to reach out via DM or the contact details in our bio.

25 August | Quarter 4 BAS Due

A reminder that Quarter 4 Business Activity Statements (BAS) are due on 25 August for our Clinton & Co clients.

Your BAS is more than just another form to lodge. It gives you a useful snapshot of what’s been happening in your business, including GST, PAYG and other tax obligations.

We always encourage our clients to look beyond simply meeting the deadline and use their BAS as an opportunity to check in on how the business is tracking.

If you’re looking for an accountant who can help with the compliance side while also helping you understand your numbers, we’d be happy to have a chat. Send us a DM or use the contact details in our bio.

21 August | July Instalment Activity Statement

A quick reminder for our clients who have an Instalment Activity Statement (IAS) due this month.

An IAS is used to report PAYG instalments to the ATO. If you have employee, this may be something you need to keep on top of.

The due date for August is 21 August.

We know tax and reporting deadlines can be a lot to keep track of, which is why we like to make things as simple and straightforward as possible for our clients - we've created a Business Hub for our current clients, with a calendar download to do exactly this!

If you’re looking for an accounting team whom can help you stay on top of the numbers and understand what they mean for your business, feel free to get in touch with us via DM, or our links in bio.

You own the business, but are you paying yourself enough?

One thing I see business owners struggle with is knowing what they should actually be paying themselves.
It can be tempting to put money back into the business, pay your team and suppliers, cover the tax bill, and then take whatever is left over.
But your business needs to work for you too.

In my latest article, I look at how to work out what your business can realistically afford to pay you, what your role would cost to replace, and some of the reasons your profitability might not be where you want it to be.
If you’re not sure whether you’re paying yourself enough, it’s worth taking a closer look.

A few weeks ago I was feeling overwhelmed by AI. It was moving so fast that I worried about what it meant for business and for our business clients. After stepping out of my comfort zone and immersing myself in it, that feeling has completely changed. I can't wait to bring what I have learned into Clinton & Co and share the journey with our clients.
