In April, we had the chance to speak with a handful of Bec's clients, and they all had something wonderful to say about her. One client described her as an "absolute angel". 💛

Existing clients, bigger visions 📈
We've also seen an increase in existing clients establishing additional entities in April. Businesses thinking strategically, seeking advice on their structure, and implementing plans that support their long-term vision. We're so grateful to be trusted with these next steps.

🔐 A quick reminder that could save your business.

Most passwords used by small business owners today can be cracked by a modern computer in under a minute.

The fix is simpler than you think: stop using passwords, and start using passphrases, and always turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA).

🔑 Passphrases beat passwords
A passphrase is a string of random words (think: velvet-tractor-orange-piano) that's easy for you to remember but near-impossible for a computer to guess. Length beats complexity every time.

📲 MFA is non-negotiable
Multi-factor authentication adds a second layer of security, usually a code sent to your phone or generated by an app. Even if someone gets your password, they can't get in without that second step.

🗝️ Consider a password manager
A secure password manager takes the mental load off remembering strong, unique logins for every account, and keeps everything safely in one encrypted vault.

These three habits are the simplest, highest-impact cybersecurity upgrades you can make; for your business email, your accounting software, your banking, everything.

Behind the scenes at Diverse…

While Payday Super might feel like a July problem, for us it's already a May priority.

Our entire team is deep in the work right now, reviewing systems, refining internal processes, and making sure every single Diverse client is set up for a smooth transition when the new rules kick in on 1 July 2026.

What that looks like on our end:

→ Reviewing every client's payroll setup
→ Confirming software readiness (hi, Xero 👋)
→ Transitioning clients off the SBSCH before it closes on 30 June
→ Building the cash flow conversations into our regular client catch-ups
→ Making sure nothing — and no one — gets caught out

It's a lot of work quietly happening behind the scenes. But that's the point.

By the time 1 July rolls around, our clients shouldn't feel the shift. They'll just know it's handled.

That's the Diverse difference.

☎️ Got a call claiming to be from the ATO? Now you can check.

Scam calls pretending to be from the ATO are one of the most common tactics used to steal personal and financial information, and they're getting more convincing.

The good news? The ATO app now has a new feature called 'Verify Call' that lets you check whether a phone call claiming to be from the ATO is actually genuine.

How it works:
→ Download the ATO app
→ Register your device
→ Use the 'Verify Call' feature next time you get a call from the ATO

If the call is legit, the app will confirm it. If it's not showing up, treat it as suspicious.

A simple step that gives you real peace of mind, and one worth sharing with clients, family, and team members who might be targets of phone scams.

🎲 Team building, Diverse style.

As a fully remote team, staying connected matters to us! So we plan 5 team building sessions throughout the year to make sure we're laughing, learning, and having fun together (even from opposite ends of the country).

This month's session was board game themed, and it had us in our element:

🧩 Icebreaker — sharing stories of the board games we grew up with (cue the laughs and the nostalgia)
🤖 AI Board Game Design Challenge — each group used AI to design their own bookkeeping-themed board game from scratch, then pitched it to the rest of the team. Equal parts creative, competitive, and chaotic.
🧠 Trivia Quiz — a classic games knowledge showdown to finish the day.

Building a remote team culture takes intention, and these sessions are one of the ways we keep ours strong. 💛

From 1 July 2026, the way super is paid in Australia is changing, and while there's nothing you need to do, it's worth knowing what to expect.

Instead of super being paid every 3 months, it'll be paid at the same time as your wages, with every pay run. That means smaller amounts arriving more often, and contributions landing in your super fund within 7 days of payday.
