Growth in business doesn’t always look the way you expect it to.

For me, it’s not always about taking on more clients, increasing revenue or reaching the next milestone.

Sometimes, it’s learning when to say no, improving the way I work or handling a situation better than I would have six months ago.

I’m learning that building a business isn’t just about getting bigger. It’s about creating something that works for me, my team and my family.

Because being able to close my laptop at the end of the day and be present at home matters just as much to me as the numbers.

So here’s a little reminder that the small wins count too.

What does growth look like for you right now?

Every week we have a question on our office whiteboard that always keeps things interesting.

This week, we decided to test one out in a practical way.

No, this isn’t our normal bookkeeping content, but our aim for our social media is to be knowledgeable & provide education but to also show up authentically and show the humans behind the business and our personality.

We aim to provide a workplace environment that encourages and allows a little bit of creativity and laughter!

Business is booming and you're ready to bring on another team member or subbie — exciting times!

But before you post that job ad, make sure your books are giving you the green light. Here are three things to check first:
1. True Cost of Labour
It's never just the hourly rate. Factor in super guarantee, leave entitlements, insurance, tools and training.
2. Unbilled Work in Progress (WIP)
Do you have enough consistent, billable work lined up to support another wage every week?
3. Cash Flow Buffer
Can your cash flow handle wage payments during quieter weeks or when client payments are delayed?

Growing your team should feel like a win, not a financial pinch.

DM us if you want a second pair of eyes on your numbers before making your next hire!

The absolute best time to sort out overdue invoices? Right now. Not in mid-December when the holiday rush is already underway!

Chasing money is uncomfortable, but letting unpaid invoices pile up puts unnecessary strain on your cash flow, especially as the Christmas slowdown approaches.

A clean debtor list in October means less financial stress and a smoother run into the holiday period.

Need help keeping your books and payments on track? We’re here to help.

Small businesses spoke up, and their concerns were heard!

The ATO’s proposed credit card payment ban has been delayed until 30 June 2027.

For many businesses, credit cards play an important role in managing cash flow, especially when tax bills, wages, super and supplier payments all fall due around the same time.

While this is a temporary delay, it highlights why small business voices need to be part of the conversation when decisions are made that affect how they operate.

Swipe through to see what’s changing and what it means for your business.

If you only hear from your bookkeeper once a quarter when BAS is due… we need to have a quick chat!

Basic data entry keeps the ATO off your back. But proactive bookkeeping gives you actual control over your business.

A good bookkeeping partner should be:
-Spotting weird expense spikes before they turn into cash flow issues.
-Keeping an eye on unpaid invoices so you're not chasing old debts.
-Making sure your GST coding, payroll and super compliance are completely sorted.
-Helping you understand your margins so you can hire, upgrade gear or expand with confidence.

At The Vault, we don't just input receipts, we give you full clarity so you can make smart, confident moves in your business.

How often do you actually sit down and review your financial reports? Let us know below!
