What if the next generation of gamers aren't gamers at all? 🎮
Florence Ath, Partner, at LDB shares a moment that changed how she sees gaming.

I'm not a gamer myself, but I've watched gaming from the sidelines for years through family.

Then I watched Netflix's extended look at GTA 6 from Rockstar Games this morning and something clicked. I was genuinely blown away!

Not just by the graphics and features, but by the incredible amount of time, talent and dedication behind the scenes. The coding. The artistic creativity. The sound. The storytelling. The technology. The detail.

You start to appreciate just how much goes into creating these worlds.

And here’s the interesting part…I was hooked.

It made me wonder whether gaming is beginning to evolve beyond the traditional gamer.

Could people like me, who've spent years watching someone else play, actually be an audience in our own right? I can absolutely picture myself sitting for hours watching a loved one play, completely drawn into the story.

If I'm feeling that, I doubt I'm alone.

At LDB, Luke Henry & the team, work closely with the gaming industry, we get a front-row seat to how this space is evolving and it's fascinating to watch where it goes next.

Maybe the future of gaming isn't just about getting more people to play. Maybe it's about getting more people to watch, and be part of the experience.

You may have seen the term ‘widow tax’ in the headlines recently and wondered whether there was suddenly a new tax to worry about.

There wasn’t.

It was an unintended consequence of the Government’s negative gearing and CGT reforms that could have affected some residential investment properties when ownership changed following a death or relationship breakdown.

We’ve been following the issue as it developed, and Parliament has now passed amendments to address it.

LDB Associate Partner Daniel Griffiths explains what happened, what has changed and what property owners should understand about the broader reforms.
