It’s looking like it might be a wild weekend along the coast.
Dangerous ocean and surf conditions are forecast over the next few days, especially at more exposed spots.
Large swells and strong winds can create powerful rip currents, coastal erosion, and those heavy, plunging waves (dumpers) that can catch people out.
If you’re heading to the beach, take a minute to check the conditions, stick to patrolled areas where you can, and follow any warning signs in place.
No flags on the beach? That means no lifeguards or lifesavers on duty and it’s not a good time to swim, particularly if you’re not familiar with the area or confident in the water.
