ATO warning: don’t rush in lodging returns – get it right
The ATO is warning taxpayers against rushing to lodge their tax returns on 1 July. The ATO said those who lodge in early July are twice as likely to make a mistake in their tax return. It also said that tax time is not a race, and there is a much higher chance that your return will be missing important information if you lodge in early July – and that is particularly relevant if you are receiving income from multiple sources.

HECS and Study loan repayments

If you want to make a voluntary repayment on your study loan before indexation, you’ll need to do this by 27 May. This allows enough time for the payment to clear before 1 June, which is when accounts are indexed.
