It was great to join Pride Advice at the Lion Hotel recently for a networking event that brought together a range of professional service providers from across our broader network.

Oreon Partner Chris Gebhardt was one of the guest speakers, sharing insights into our services and what makes our people and culture unique.

Our strategic partnership with Pride Advice continues to create fantastic opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing and stronger connections across the professional services community. Thank you to the Pride team for hosting a fantastic event and to everyone who joined us for the afternoon.

Bragging rights were on the line today at the annual Oreon Quiz, with teams battling it out across general knowledge, sport, pop culture and even a few Oreon-specific questions thrown in for good measure.

A big thank you to Quiz Master Rebecca Rodighiero for keeping everyone on their toes, and for making sure no one went hungry with lunch provided along the way.

Congratulations to this year's winning team (left to right):
> Nathan Dimou
> Erin Parkyn
> Matt Hosking
> Deb Hawthorn
> Cathy Zhu
> Tom Carr

Enjoy the glory while it lasts...!

We are aware of an increasing number of clients receiving fake or misleading notices regarding annual company review fees.

These notices are designed to look like official invoices, but in many cases they are not required to be paid and may relate to third-party providers charging unnecessary fees.

A few reminders:
> Don’t assume a notice is an official ASIC invoice
> You do not need to use a third-party provider – company reviews should be completed through ASIC or your accountant
> If Oreon manages these matters for your business, we’ll contact you directly if action is required

If you’re unsure whether a notice requires action, please check before making payment.

Have you entered into an option agreement to buy or sell a CGT asset, or are you intending to do so? A recent court case looked at the issue of, “When is an asset acquired for CGT purposes when an option is exercised to acquire it.” It’s a complicated matter and one you should understand before moving forward.

There was a recent case before the Federal Court which had to deal with the issue of when is an asset acquired for CGT purposes when an option is exercised to acquire it. Is it at the time the option

It's always good getting the whole team together, but it was extra special this morning as we gathered for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea in support of Cancer Council Australia

Between the fruit platters, cakes and conversation, it was a nice reminder that taking time to connect as a team can also help support something much bigger. Thanks to everyone who contributed and helped make it a great morning.

Right now, a lot of businesses are dealing with rising costs, changing markets, and the pressure to keep moving forward while doing more with less. During times like these, having the right financial and strategic support can make a real difference.

We work closely with businesses to bring clarity to the numbers, uncover opportunities for growth, and help leaders make confident decisions for the future. Everyday, we hear from people worried about the economy, their businesses, and their personal finances. Strong relationships, like the ones we build with our clients, help devise smart strategies.
