The UK Autumn Budget is this Wednesday. What could it mean for your wealth?

On 28 October, the Chancellor will announce the UK Autumn Budget 2026, with potential implications for tax, pensions, investments and estate planning.

But not every announcement will affect everyone in the same way. Understanding which changes are relevant to your circumstances, when they could take effect and whether your existing plans need reviewing is important.

Join Claire Spinks, Global Head of Tax at Hoxton Wealth, on Friday 30 October for a live webinar examining the key Budget announcements, their implications for individuals and families, and the considerations for those with financial interests across more than one country.

If something happened to a business partner, what would happen to their shares in the company?

In this clip, Rikesh Chauhan and Zavio D'ercole discuss two important areas of protection planning for business owners: protecting their families and protecting the business itself.

Relevant life insurance can provide financial support to a business owner's family or beneficiaries if they pass away, with premiums paid by the company and potential corporation tax advantages, subject to eligibility.

But there's also the question of what happens to the business when a shareholder dies.

Their family may inherit an interest in the company without wanting to become involved in running it.

It's an important distinction: providing financial support for your family and ensuring the business can continue are two separate considerations, and both deserve attention.

Knowing you can afford to retire doesn't mean you have to. But it gives you the choice.

In this clip, Financial Planner Zavio D'ercole and CEO Chris Ball discuss how cash flow modelling can help people understand when retirement could become financially possible.

Zavio shares an example of a client who had planned to retire in seven or eight years. Following an unexpected payout from a business shareholding, the client's financial position changed considerably.

Even though the client didn't stop working immediately, Zavio was able to show that retirement could be financially achievable much sooner than originally planned.

That's where cash flow modelling can make a difference. It's not simply about calculating how much money you have. It's about understanding what your finances could support, so you can make decisions about retirement based on your own priorities rather than an assumed retirement age.

If you move abroad but keep your investments in pounds, have you considered how that could affect your spending power?

Moving from the UK to a country where you earn and spend in euros changes more than your day-to-day expenses. It also raises questions about how your existing savings and investments fit into your new circumstances.

In this clip, Matthew Morgan and Louise Powell discuss why currency is an important consideration when relocating abroad, particularly when your assets remain in sterling but your living costs are now in euros.

Exchange rate movements can affect the value of your money in the currency you actually spend. But that doesn't necessarily mean converting all your UK assets into euros is the right decision.

The important thing is to understand how your investments, future income and spending needs work together, and whether your current currency exposure still makes sense for where you live.

Just because you can take tax-free cash from your pension doesn't mean you need to.

Taking a tax-free lump sum is often seen as a natural part of retirement. But what happens when you don't actually need the money?

In this clip, CEO Chris Ball explains why taking tax-free cash from your pension isn't always necessary, particularly if your existing savings and income already cover your financial needs.

Without a clear purpose for the money, withdrawing it simply because it's available may not be the most suitable decision for your wider retirement plan.
