The global stock market is massive—around $154 trillion—and nearly half of that value sits in U.S. companies alone, with the rest spread across China, the EU, India, Japan and other regions.
That concentration explains why U.S. news and earnings can move “the market,” even though dozens of other countries are quietly making up the remaining share.
It’s a reminder that when people say “the market,” they’re really talking about a huge, layered system of different economies, all plugged into one giant price scoreboard.
