Beyond Succession: The Bigger Challenge in Wealth Planning
Through the recent Global Private Trust Programme, I had the opportunity to engage with many of our Working Partners and hear more about the challenges their clients are facing across different markets.
📌 One point became clear: For many high-net-worth families, succession is no longer the only concern.
The complexity of global wealth increasingly involves:
🔹Cross-Border Wealth & Multiple Jurisdictions
Family, assets and businesses spread across different countries and regulatory environments.
🔹Wealth Succession & Business Continuity
Transferring wealth is one consideration. Preserving business ownership and continuity is another.
🔹Fragmented Structures & Lack of Integration
Different assets may have different arrangements, without one overarching wealth strategy.
🔹Intergenerational Wealth Preservation
Transferring wealth to one generation is one challenge. Preserving it across multiple generations is another.
This is why comprehensive wealth planning matters. For families with globally distributed assets, having individual structures in place is not enough. The right framework needs to bring different elements of wealth together and address protection, management and succession as part of one strategy⚖️
Wealth planning today is no longer simply about transferring wealth. It is about protecting, managing and preserving wealth for generations to come.
