📢 UAE Tax Update: PillarTwo Top-Up Tax Registration is now live on the EMARATAX portal.

A key compliance development for multinational groups operating in the UAE.

Entities within the scope of the UAE Pillar Two rules are now required to complete registration through the EMARATAX portal. In general, groups may be in scope where they belong to a multinational enterprise (MNE) group with consolidated global revenues of at least €750 million in two of the four preceding fiscal years.

While the FTA has not yet announced the registration deadline, in-scope groups should begin preparing now by:

✔️ Assessing Pillar Two applicability
✔️ Reviewing group structure and revenue thresholds
✔️ Preparing registration information and supporting data
✔️ Monitoring FTA updates for further compliance guidance

Early assessment is important to ensure a smooth registration and compliance process.

📌 Advance Corporate Tax Payments on EmaraTax

Businesses can now make an advance corporate tax payment in EmaraTax by selecting the “Advance Payment” option under “My Payments”. The system automatically applies the payment to your immediate next tax return, where it remains on account until that return is filed. Any excess amount is adjusted against future or outstanding liabilities, starting with the oldest due.

For monthly filers, it’s important to note that advance payments apply only to the next tax period (e.g. January), even if a prior return (e.g. December) has already been filed. Payments for already-filed returns must be made through “Select and Pay”, not as an advance payment.

When paying via GIBAN, a unique payment reference number must be generated in EmaraTax before initiating the transfer.
