🚗📘 TAX TIP: WHAT MUST YOUR SARS TRAVEL LOGBOOK CONTAIN?

Do you receive a travel allowance or a reimbursive travel allowance? Then keeping an accurate travel logbook is essential!

To support your business travel claim, make sure your logbook records:

✅ Date of each trip
✅ Destination – where you travelled
✅ Opening and closing odometer readings
✅ Kilometres travelled
✅ Purpose of the trip – for example, a client meeting, site visit or business appointment

💡 Our tip: Record your trips as they happen! Trying to reconstruct a whole year's travel at tax season can be difficult.

Remember, travel between your home and your normal workplace is generally regarded as private travel, not business travel.

A proper logbook helps you substantiate your business kilometres and support your tax deduction if SARS requests proof.
