A small accounting firm based in Johannesburg, we are looking for a part-time Accountant/Financial Administrator. You must be organized, diligent and technically proficient. Main responsibility is to oversee accounting & tax work for our firm's clients . You will manage the full accounting cycle—from source documents to Trial Balance—while ensuring strict statutory compliance.
This is a part-time position with minimum 8 days per month.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Data Integrity: Oversee full accounting function i.e. monthly, ad-hoc, and annual processing from source documents to Trial Balance (TB).
Accounts Reconciliations: Perform and review critical reconciliations, including stock, inter-company accounts.
Asset Management: Maintain and update Fixed Asset Registers (FAR).
Reporting: Prepare monthly management reports and Annual Financial Statements (AFS) compilation
2. Compliance & Statutory Oversight
Tax & Labour: Manage the full compliance function, including SARS (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax), Department of Labour (U-Filing, ROE), and CIPC annual returns.
Audit & Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for SARS queries and audits; handle new registrations and follow-ups.
3. Payroll: Oversee the end-to-end monthly payroll process for clients.
4. Team Leadership
People Management: Supervise junior staff, ensuring work is accurate, deadlines are met, and professional standards are maintained.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements
Education: A Diploma OR B.Com in Accounting, OR an NQF Level 5 Accounting Technician (SA) qualification.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in a finance department. Experience within an accounting practice environment is strongly preferred.
Software: Proficiency in cloud-based accounting software (Xero and Sage).
Technical Systems: Expert knowledge of South African statutory systems: SARS e-Filing, U-Filing, and CIPC.
