❄️ Beating Debt During the Mid-Atlantic Deep Freeze: Avalanche vs. Snowball ❄️

With winter storms piling up across the Mid-Atlantic, it’s a good time to talk about two popular ways to snow-plow your debt:

🏔️ The Debt Avalanche
You focus on the highest-interest debt first while making minimums on the rest.
✔️ Mathematically the most efficient
✔️ Saves the most money on interest over time
âť— Can feel slower at the beginning

⛄ The Debt Snowball
You start with the smallest balances first, regardless of interest rate.
✔️ Quick wins build momentum
✔️ Great for motivation and behavior change
âť— Usually costs more in interest long-term

The real takeaway: the “best” strategy is the one you’ll stick with long enough to clear the storm.

Whether you choose the avalanche for efficiency or the snowball for momentum, consistency is what melts debt the fastest.

Recently, I saw a Facebook post on a community page promoting a GoFundMe established by a family friend. The wife had mentioned that her husband, father of her 2 young children, was only 50 years old so they didn't have life insurance.

I immediately thought to myself, this is exactly the type of person that likely needed life insurance. Life insurance has evolved over the years with many options that you can now benefit from before you die.

There are many factors that go into how much life insurance is needed and what type of life insurance is best for you. There is no cookie-cutter approach.

I always ask, "If you were to die today, what financial burden would your family face?".

"If You Fail to Plan, You Are Planning to Fail" - Benjamin Franklin

A winter storm was forecasted in the area for today. First indications of something major was over a week ago. As Sunday neared, the forecast got more reliable and folks started to react. On Saturday morning, many people were pouring out of Home Depot with salt bags and a few were lucky enough to grab the last of the generators and shovels. Many left empty handed resulting in the need to go store to store to hopefully find something. Many failed to plan until they knew the storm was a certainty and may not be fully prepared for the storm.

For most, Retirement is a Certainty.

Unfortunately, many people often do not address their retirement with a sound plan until they are just a year or even months away from retirement. Consulting with a professional to evaluate your assets and retirement goals could save you a lot of money in retirement and give you overall peace of mind that you will be "OK" to retire.

In Retirement, no one should be unprepared.

I'd love to chat!

Many families are not properly insured in the event of a premature death, leaving a financial burden on their loved ones. Adequate life insurance is just one piece of a larger financial plan. Please make certain you are properly covered.

A common starting point is 10x your salary. Many also fail to fully consider the cost involved should a non-employed spouse pass prematurely.

Life insurance provides many American families with an important financial safety net. The life insurance industry is large, and while it may seem stodgy, it is ever-evolving. We looked at statistics that reveal the scope of this industry. Total premiums paid for individual life insurance total
