The type of services that I provide as a Certified Public Accountant are much the same as those offered by other CPA's. However, what I think distinguishes me from other CPA's is my personal approach to all of my clients. I offer services ranging from audits, reviews and compilation for financial statements to tax return preparation for individuals, partnerships, corporations, LLC's (Limited Liability Companies which have gained popularity in the last 10 years), estates and trusts. I have represented clients for IRS audits of both business and individual tax returns and have a high rate of success. My success in audits comes from my requirement that the client provide me with adequate detailed backup of all expense deductions and thorough discussions with the client about all items to be included on their tax returns as well as items that may not need to be included on the tax return. And quite often the discussions related to what is not included on a tax return is more effective in preventing IRS audits and reviews of tax return data then discussing what is actually on the tax return. For example, the IRS has become so effective at matching income and some deductions to what is reported on tax returns that even though an income item is not taxable and technically not required to be reported on a tax return, I have seen IRS tax notices that question why an item of income was not reported on a tax return. Usually this can be resolved by one or two letters explaining to them why the item was not reported and that the income is not taxable. However, there are times when ths IRS will send a notice that will ask the taxpayer to provide proof of ALL items of income on the tax return. These "mini-audits" are often the result of not reporting one item of income on a tax return even though it is NOT REQUIRED to be reported. However, I have found a special way around this issue that usually works. This is one small example of a way that I work on my client's behalf, providing not just tax preparation services but also finding ways to protect my client from additional IRS scrutiny. It may be hard to believe, but most clients simply don't want the IRS scrutinizing their tax return, even though they believe that their tax return is 100% accurate. I enjoy providing this type of service for clients because most clients thank me for providing them with this extra service and helping to keep them off of the IRS's radar.
