Did you know there are multiple parts to Medicare? We didn't, but thankfully Gina Masterson from Masterful solutions came onto the Chimes & Dimes podcast to explain everything there is to know about plans for those over 65.
Part A: Hospitilization helps to cover the costs of staying in a hospital, nursing home, hospice, and more. This part features a $0 premium if you have worked in the U.S. for at least 10 years.
Part B: Medical Insurance helps cover the costs, copays, deductibles, etc. of seeing doctors and other health care providers. This year, the cost is a little over $200 a month unless you are also on Medicaid.
Part C: Advantage Plans. Parts A and B are commonly referred to as "Original Mediare." Advantage plans combine the two parts and function similarly to employer plans, so you need to make sure to see a care provider who is in-network. Unlike Original Medicare, they also include Part D.
Part D: Drug helps cover the cost of prescription medication. Many people pay other insurance companies to help cover the cost.
Part G: Medigap is a supplemental plan to help cover the costs of some deductibles, copays, coinsurances, and more from Parts A and B.
Gina Masterson from Masterful Solutions shares the details on these parts, plans, and more in episode 8 of Chimes & Dimes brought to you by First Wealth & Trust of Winter Garden.
