1st of the month checklist from a bookkeeper for small business owners:

1. Pay yourself
2. Pay your team
3. Save for taxes
4. Pay off credit card

Oh yeah, I'm missing 1 thing - bookkeeping!

I do these things on the 1st of every month so I know how much I can pay myself and know how much I have to cover expenses for the next month.

Just another reason why I should be your bookkeeper - because you didn't start your business to be buried in QuickBooks on a holiday weekend. Am I right???

This is a valid question:

YES. Here's why:

Getting all of your transactions entered into your software is a big first step, but bookkeeping doesn't stop there.

You still need to categorize all of your transactions (the RIGHT way) and reconcile your accounts and yes, even more!

3 Reason why you actually need monthly bookkeeping:

1. To make confident decisions: when you know exactly where every dollar is going it's easier to make decisions about investing and spending.

2. To catch errors: Errors happen - but they can be caught faster with a second set of eyes on things.

3. Taxes: I probably sound like a broken record, but your tax return really is only as good as your bookkeeper. If you have messy books or don't know all the tax benefits of being a small business owner, you could be missing out on dozens of ways to save on taxes and so much more!

If you're a business owner who's been scared to make an investment in your business, having someone by your side who knows your finances in and out can make it easier.

As someone who's made a few investments in each of my small businesses recently, (comment 🧡if you're also multi passionate) I can say I understand the fear that comes with spending money on your business!
