The H&R Block community mourns the passing of Karenna Groff, a 2023 “A Fair Shot” athlete partner and collegiate gender equity and pay advocate. She and her parents, Dr. Michael Groff and Dr. Joy Saini, and brother, Jared Groff and his partner, Alexia Couyutas Duarte, and Karenna's boyfriend, James Santoro, passed away in a tragic plane crash in Upstate New York last weekend.

Karenna was a remarkable individual, a former soccer star and cherished teammate at MIT, and the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year, recognized for her outstanding contributions on the field and in her community.

We were incredibly fortunate to have worked with Karenna, and her legacy will continue to inspire us. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her friends, family, and all those whose lives she touched.
