A second reflection on how our USAID/OTI strategies apply to financial planning:

✔️Manageable Interest: we cannot control everything (whether it's natural disasters or the stock market), so we have to be strategic and diversified with what is in our control.

✔️Appreciative Inquiry: when entering a new community, we need to listen first. The same is true when I meet with a new potential client. I ask questions and say "tell me more." I want to partner to develop tailored financial planning solutions.

✔️Education Paradox: in conflict as in financial strategies, the more you know, the more you have to learn. As an advisor, I want to understand your specific financial goals to present a menu of options for pathways forward. There is no "one size fits all."

Reflecting on how our USAID/OTI strategies apply to financial planning:

✔️Act - Assess - Adapt: You've been thinking about a 401K rollover, a ROTH IRA and permanent life insurance. Pick one and start. From there, we can assess and adapt in an iterative and strategic planning process.

✔️Looking Back, Looking Up, Looking Forward: Take stock of your financial history, celebrate successes, and learn from mistakes. Lift your head from your day-to-day and reflect for a moment on how to seize opportunities. Make a plan and take action.

✔️Catalytic Effect: Consider how small changes and actions can have a multiplier impact. Look at your monthly budget and see where saving and investing is possible.

Totally rad hanging out with the Milwaukee Bucks DJ Shawna at our Northwestern Mutual Network Office Day on Friday!

We share two favorite things in common - basketball and DJ'ing (though my skills are slightly more amateur than Shawna's!).

Cool story? Shawna decided one day that she wanted to DJ the NCAA women's final four. So, she called them up and left a voicemail. Approximately two weeks before the final four. The next day, they called her back! Now, she's been DJ'ing the NCAA women's final four since 2017.

Her message? "Courage comes first. Confidence comes later."

Thanks to my managing partner for making this happen!

It's spring! Time to protect what matters with a little financial spring cleaning.

Here are three questions to ask yourself to get started:
✔️Do I know at what age I can retire and how much I can spend monthly in retirement?
✔️Am I sitting on too much cash? Can I make my money work smarter for me?
✔️Do I have the appropriate risk protection for my family, my income and retirement in the form of life insurance, disability insurance, and long-term care insurance?

Let's talk and get organized financially.

Last week, our super fun managing partner took the women financial advisors of our firm out for drinks following a "women in finance" strategy session.

Three questions to ask yourself:
✔️Do I know my retirement outlook?
✔️Is my retirement protected from risk?
✔️What does my financial legacy look like for my children?

If you're a woman looking to work with a woman advisor, reach out! I'd love to connect!

Who's ready to take about long-term care?

Nobody?

Not a fun topic, but it is one of the biggest risks to your retirement.

Three questions to ask yourself:
✔️ Do I know how much the average monthly cost of assisted living is in my area?
✔️ Am I confident I could self-fund a long-term care event?
✔️ Do I know my long-term care insurance options?

If you answered "no" to one or more of these questions, message me here or reach out on my website. Happy to talk it through!

(Photo is my colleagues and me at a local microbrewery. It has little to do with long-term care, except that we all know a lot about LTC insurance!)
