This July 4th, we want to take a moment to recognize the heroes who have fought and died for the freedoms we so often take for granted in our nation ❤️🤍💙

It is because of them that we have the privilege to live and work in a country that values honor, freedom, hard work, innovation, and entrepreneurship. We hope that everyone has a fun and safe day, and don’t forget to thank a service member if you see one.

Taxes are always changing 💰 and while these changes won’t affect how you file in April, they may affect your financial decisions in 2023. Here are the biggest changes:

✅ Federal income tax brackets will increase, allowing taxpayers to shield more of their hard-earned income from taxation. You can find your new tax bracket here: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/19/irs-here-are-the-new-income-tax-brackets-for-2023.html
✅ The standard deduction is increasing for both married couples filing jointly and single taxpayers.
✅ The new IRS limit for FSA contributions for 2023 is $3,050, an increase of 7% from 2022’s threshold of $2,850.

A dog dedicated to recycling? 🐕 Now that’s some good news worth sharing: https://thegoodnewshub.com/environment/dog-recycling-border-collie-finds-and-collects-plastic/

Apparently, Scruff the border collie used to have a love for fetching sticks, but his owners switched him over to playing with plastic bottles to avoid the sticks cutting his mouth.

The owners soon realized that their dog walks could be a way to clean up their community, and since then, they’ve collected well over 1,000 bottles! You can follow their journey on Facebook with ♻️

When Does It Make Sense to File a Tax Extension?

If you are unable to gather all the necessary information to complete your tax return by the original deadline, or if you are unable to complete your return by the original deadline, then it may make sense for you to file for a tax extension.

In addition, if you expect income from a pass-through entity such as an S-corporation or LLC, you may not have your K-1 prior to tax day. In that case, you may need to file an extension.

This extension gives you an additional six months to file your return.

What Is the Deadline for Filing a Tax Extension?

The deadline to file for a tax extension is Tax Day.

What Should I Know About Filing an Extension?

While filing for a tax extension can provide you with additional time to file your return, it is important to be aware of the following:
Filing for a tax extension does not extend the deadline for paying any taxes owed.
If you owe taxes and do not pay them by the original deadline, you may be subject to additional interest and penalties.
If you do not file a return or an extension by the original deadline, you may also be subject to additional penalties.
