Business, life, relationships; its all sort of the same to me. I can't see a way to seperate them from one another and I wouldn't want to.

In business, I am building relationships to support my life.

In life, I am building my business to support my relationships.

My relationships support me in my life and my journey in building my business.

I feel like allowing it all to be integrated together makes each component stronger, we are stronger together. We are constructing our lives, society, the world. We are creators. Let us use our creativity to support one another.

I can already see how this bookkeeping path can lead me into deeper ways of supporting others and their businesses and families. It has me exploring the nuances of what it takes and what needs to be considered in running a business successfully.

I'm grateful to start here with bookkeeping. And I'm excited to be connecting with more individuals and business owners and contemplate how we can effectively reach our goals.

I want to bring value to my clients beyond plugging numbers and saying "Here you go." I want to help you read those numbers. I want to help guide your decisions. And I want to see you and your goals.

There's value in building a relationship with another individual who's also building a business, taking on risk, getting their hands dirty. I want to be on your team.

This relational aspect brings a more nuanced value, and sort of a priceless one. I won't charge one fee for bookkeeping and then an add-on fee to be personable and compassionate 😅 Thats just how I operate.

We can remain professional and still be human, still recognize our clients are having a whole human experience, and recognize owning a business has stressors that come with it. I see you, you're working, you're building, you're grinding. Let's give ourselves a pat on the back every once in a while.

If none of that matters to you, outsource to someone in a land far, far away that you'll never actually interface with. Can bookkeeping save you money?? Short answer, yes ✅️ Clean bookkeeping can help you see when you have an opportunity, or when there's a red flag 🚩 on the horizon.

I'll be honest, the actual bookkeeping is NOT exciting, even to me. But I get it and I like doing it because I know that the results of it are exciting, numbers that mean something!

It's sort of like cleaning your room. At most, it can be cathartic and "feel good" to do in a weird way. But the result is what its about. That, "Ahhh, I can breathe, I can see my floor again" feeling 😌

The difference in having a clean room and having clean books is that having a clean room isn't something that can provide insights that could save/earn your business thousands 💸💸 or more. It can clear up the fog so you can see the land (opportunity) ahead or the red flag/iceberg you are steering towards.

I'm not suggesting you are driving into an iceberg. I bet you're doing great. I want to help you do even better.

I had my first official sales call yesterday (there was no sales call for my first client, it just sort of happened 😅). I feel really happy with how it went.

No, I did not get a new client. But I also didn't get a totally firm no. I think the call actually ended on a… maybe.

Regardless, I got to have a conversation that I enjoyed about something that excites me. And I did get great practice and experience in advocating for myself. I did get to show someone that I don't just want their money to have their money, but that I want us to both win. If one of us feels like we are losing it isn't a good fit. They actually made that point themselves.

They didn't want me to work for less than what it was worth to me. I didn't want them to pay what felt like more than they were willing to pay.

They were also quite gracious in lending me their time even after deciding they likely weren't going to use my services.

And even if it didn't result in us working together, it still felt meaningful. I am feeling grateful.

I look forward to my next opportunity to speak with someone about how and whether or not we can help one another.
