Tax Return Prep Made Easy 📑

Tax season doesn’t have to be stressful! Having the right documents ready can make filing your personal or business tax return much smoother.

For personal tax returns, you may need:
• W-2s and 1099s
• Interest & dividend statements
• Mortgage interest statements
• Health insurance information
• Retirement contribution statements
• Child/dependent information
• Receipts for deductible expenses
• Prior-year tax return
• Any other income or deduction documentation

For business tax returns, be prepared with:
• Profit & Loss statement
• Balance Sheet
• Bank & credit card statements
• Business income records/1099s
• Payroll records
• Fixed asset & depreciation information
• Loan statements
• Business expense records
• Prior-year business tax return
• Entity formation and ownership information

⏰ Have you filed an extension? Don’t forget that an extension gives you additional time to file, not additional time to pay any taxes owed.

For calendar-year taxpayers, the extended deadlines are generally:
📌 Individual returns: October 15, 2026
📌 S-Corporations & Partnerships: September 15, 2026
📌 C-Corporations: October 15, 2026

Start gathering your documents now so you’re not scrambling at the last minute!

Today’s post is all about 529 plans.

College costs continue to rise, and a 529 plan remains one of the most tax-efficient ways to save for education.

With recent rule changes allowing certain unused funds to be rolled into a Roth IRA, these accounts are more flexible than many people realize.

At the same time, newer Trump Accounts have introduced another savings option for children. While both help families build wealth, they have different purposes and rules. Understanding the differences can help you choose the strategy that best fits your family’s goals.

This content is for educational purposes only and should not be considered tax, legal, or investment advice. Rules may change, and individual circumstances vary.

All about Trump Accounts for children.

I’ve included the most relevant information pertaining to these accounts that should be considered before opening and funding them.

While these accounts are considered “tax advantaged”, the two biggest advantages are the Government seed contribution for eligible children as well as the potential parent’s employer contribution.

On a separate post I’ll go over other alternatives like the 529 Plan, Custodial Roth IRA and Custodial Investment Accounts for comparison.
