Spent yesterday at the AdvisorHub event in NYC, and the highlight was hearing Boomer Esiason talk about Tough Lessons in Leadership.

Boomer wore the right color for part of his career (green) but played for the wrong team (Jets).

But what stuck with me wasn't the football. In 1993, Boomers two-year-old son Gunnar was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Boomer and his wife Cheryl started the Boomer Esiason Foundation that same year, and it has since raised more than $175 million (!) to fight CF and support families living with it.

That's leadership. Not the stat line, but what you build when life hands you something you never planned for.

It's a lesson I see in my own work every day. The best plans aren't the ones that assume everything goes right. They're the ones built to hold up when it doesn't.

Thank you, Boomer, for the conversation and for decades of work on behalf of the CF community.

Some days at the office are better than others.

Yesterday I was in Philadelphia for the WisdomTree RIA Summit, where I got to hear Professor Jeremy Siegel speak. He is a professor emeritus of finance at Wharton and WisdomTree's Senior Economist, and one of the most respected voices on long-term investing. If the name doesn't ring a bell, his book will: Stocks for the Long Run.

Why does this matter to Vericrest clients?

Because the research behind your portfolio is not one guy in Newtown with a spreadsheet (although my color-coded, conditionally formatted, pivot-tabled masterpiece remains available for viewing. Nobody has ever asked.)

We work side-by-side with WisdomTree's investment team to build, monitor and adjust our portfolios, and Professor Siegel sits on the investment committee that oversees that work.

We get institutional-level research and a deep bench.

You still get a fiduciary who knows your name, your goals, and your plan, and who makes the final call.
