📌 Friendly Tax Reminder for Parents!

If your child turns 17 by 12/31, here’s something important to know 👇

👉 For tax purposes, they are no longer considered a “qualifying child” for the Child Tax Credit.
👉 They move into the “Other Dependent” category instead.

Yes — they still cost a LOT of money (trust me, I know 😅), but the IRS treats them differently once they hit that age.

💡 What this means for you:
• Your refund may change
• You may want to adjust your W-4 so you’re not surprised at tax time

A quick W-4 update now can help avoid owing later 👀

Before you tap into that retirement money for holiday gifts, PLEASE make sure you do it the right way.

👉 Always have taxes taken out upfront.
👉 Your withdrawal gets added to your total yearly income, which means it’s taxed at YOUR true tax bracket — not the lowest one.
👉 If you don’t withhold enough now, you could get hit with a surprise tax bill at tax time.

⚠️ And if you’re under 59½, remember there’s a 10% penalty on top of regular taxes.
