Quick intro for anyone new here 👋
I’m Mallori, the owner of Tichy Financial Lab & Tax Solutions.

I’m a registered tax preparer with an active PTIN and IRS e-file authorization, operating in compliance with IRS and state requirements. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting from Metropolitan State University (Class of 2016).

My background includes working for a small business accounting firm, consulting experience supporting projects for large financial services companies, and contract accounting and bookkeeping work for a variety of businesses — with a focus on small business financial services, tax planning, and compliance.

In addition to my accounting and tax background, I’ve worked extensively in client-facing roles, including the service industry and more recently in roofing sales. That experience shapes how I work with clients today: clear communication, responsiveness, and an understanding of real-world business pressures — not just the numbers on paper.

I take a strategy-first, judgment-free approach to tax preparation for individuals and small business owners, and I complete ongoing tax education each year to stay current on tax law.

YEARLY TAX SEASON PSA!!!

Why choosing an actual accountant > big-box tax

Every year around this time, I feel morally obligated to post this:
Here’s why you use a licensed accountant instead of H&R Block / Turbo-style chains.

Most preparers at big chains are not accountants.

Many are seasonal employees who complete a short training course (sometimes just a few weeks). Some are great — many are very undertrained for anything beyond a W-2.

If you have: Self-employment income, Side gigs / 1099s, Rental property, Prior-year issues, A new business….

You deserve someone who actually understands tax law — not someone following on-screen prompts.

Their “$99 return” or whatever their promotion is…
almost never exists. Add-ons sneak in fast: people walk in expecting a few hundred dollars and walk out having paid $800–$1,200+ invoices — for very basic returns.

An independent accountant will give you the full price up front, no surprises. And alot of times they come in at a lower price.

Accountability is murky with H&R Block, Turbo Tax, etc], they have you sign away a great deal of their liability… you want someone licensed with a federal PTIN (Preparer Tax ID Number). That means they are federally licensed and to prepare taxes for others, that number on your tax return makes them accountable for the information in it.

Taxes aren’t just paperwork — they’re part of your financial system
Your tax return tells a story about your income, habits, and business decisions. When it’s done right, it supports: Better cash flow, Fewer surprises, Less anxiety.

That’s the difference between “getting it done” and actually being supported.
