I want to let you know I’m studying a Business Mastery program and I’m really excited about it.
Over the next 8 weeks, I’m going to be working every day to take my business to the next level. Part of that means I’m going to need to put more time and energy into the assignments so that I can get the results I want.

Over the next couple of months, I’ll be focused on this and so I may need to say no to some things.
I’m sharing this with you now because you are such an important person in my life, and so I want you to be aware of what is going on with me.
I would really appreciate your support as I pursue these goals!

How much is your time worth?

According to the IRS, the average person who does their own tax return spends a total of 13 hours preparing and filing their return.

(If you’re not spending that much time on your tax return, ask yourself why. What might you be missing?)

If you make $15/hour, that means spending 13 hours self-preparing costs you $195.

And that’s just the cost of your time.

The starting price of DIY tax software ranges from $29.95 to $104.99, and that doesn’t include all different ways TurboTax will nickel and dime you.

Factor the software cost in and it can easily cost you more than $300 to do your own taxes.

Those are just the hard costs - time and money.

If you miss out on any deductions or other tax planning opportunities, that $300 figure can easily climb into the thousands of dollars.

Before you do your own taxes this year, think about the real costs. Is it really worth it?

At the very least, it’s worth exploring your other options.

I could be able to save you hundreds of dollars on your tax prep costs this year.

If you want a free, no obligation quote to have your taxes done, send me a message here on Facebook and I’ll be happy to give you a call and discuss your unique situation.

Even if you decide to work with someone else, I guarantee you’ll walk away from our call with valuable advice and peace of mind.

I’m here to help you. :)

A do-it-yourself tax software ad says "it doesn't take a genius to do your taxes." That is quite correct. It doesn't take a genius to do your taxes.

It also doesn't take a genius to do the wiring in your house nor does it take a genius to install a toilet. It doesn't take a genius to make a soufflé; and it does not take a genius to change the brakes on your car.

All of these things you can certainly do yourself. If you figure them out without training or experience, you may luck out and not get electrocuted, or flood your house, or serve an embarrassing dessert to your guests, or hit something because your brakes fail.

Yes, you can certainly do your own taxes, but you don't know what you don't know. The IRS knows this about do-it-yourselfers, and gives those tax returns more scrutiny.

You don't need me to do your taxes and you also don't need insurance on your house. But, once your house is in flames and your tax return is under scrutiny, you're going to wish you had spent the money.

Hire an Enrolled Agent. Maybe a genius, maybe not, but we are highly educated and experienced in the field of income taxes....and these days, it is more important than ever to avoid dealing with the IRS. ~~~ written 1/2/16 by Julie B Dailey EA, NTPI Fellow
